History:

South-Africa is called the cradle of mankind.

One of the most important reasons for this is the discovery of Ms Pless in the Sterkfontein caves near Johannesburg and more recently a 4.1 million year old humanoid piece.

This description is now also given to South-Africa because some of the oldest rock formations are found here, especially in the Archaean granite basement of the Black Reef Formation of the Transvaal Super group.

A petrographic report from the South African Council for Geoscience states that the specific rock formation is 2557 +- 49 million years old (Jahn et al. 1990)

In this rock formation the carbonates are frequently altered to marble and serpentinious dolomites, and are associated with algal laminations and encapsulated algal biscuits. The serpentinous dolomites are commonly known as Butter Jade or Butterstone.

Butter Jade is an attractive yellow-green sedimentary rock with fine laminations or layers containing fossilized algae. The fossilized algae is one of the oldest forms of life on earth. All our products are manufactured from Butter Jade stone found in this rock formation.

Authentication Statement:

Each product is sold with a card stating the following:

The Vermont Rock Formation in the eastern parts of South Africa, from which my pendant is manufactured has the following properties:

1.  It contains fine visible layers of fossilized algae.

2.  Fossilized algae are among the oldest forms of life on Earth.

3.  It is one of the oldest rock formations on Earth, older than 2500 million years.

Manufacturing Facts:

The rock layers are near to the surface which allows for opencast mining, after which it is transported to the factory. The soil is subsequently restored to its original condition without any environmental damage.

Manufacturing capacity: Unlimited, depends on demand.

Our products come in all shapes and sizes and in different colours too, which makes each one unique
